I'd like to share this article that I re-read periodically to remind myself that it is okay to not respond to every e-mail I receive: catapult.co/stories/do-y...
Melissa Febos shares practical writing advice for women who want to prioritize their art, not their email
I have to remind myself that being bad at email isn't a character flaw, and that I do other good things. But I've been at multiple official events where someone has been praised for being prompt replying to emails. This world is not made for my kind, I guess.
Wow, thanks Katie - I needed to read this…
I suppose that due to your media exposure you receive a bazillion emails?
I am so glad this randomly popped up on my feed! What a great, helpful article. Since starting my business, I feel like I have to respond to everything or it won’t be successful, but all that takes time away from actually creating the art.
Thank you for sharing this. It's magnificent.
I often get apology emails (or texts) from people who are "sorry this took so long to reply to," and I make sure I let them know that, unless I'm waiting on a bill to be paid, they can reply or not or take all the time they need. People are so weird sometimes about the entitlement to a response.
Thank you! Needed this reminder.
This is so glorious and full of great reminders. ❤️
It kills me that at 47 I still struggle with this, but absolutely fundamentally my soul is like I AM AN EXCELLENT EXECUTIVE SECRETARY LET ME SHINE and I am like - settle the fuck down and go do some astrophysics.
OMG thank you. This is exactly what I needed to read.
