Canada, meanwhile, has no high-speed rail at all, despite fully half the population already obligingly arranging itself IN A STRAIGHT LINE en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quebec_...
The ON govt especially is addicted to building hwys to “fix” congestion. Digging a tunnel under the 401 is seen as a better idea than investing in rail transit. Two privately owned low speed rail companies with absurd pricing run that length. JR does it right. One card per region, reasonable rates.
The lack of decent rail transit in Canada is shameful.
not to mention that Via Rail's Toronto-Montréal service is steadily deteriorating, and is soon set to take LONGER www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
I love the train ride from Windsor to Toronto, but why is it 4 hours!! We can drive there in that amount of time
Canada does some things very well. This is very much not one of them.
Having been both on trains in Europe and on trains in the Quebec-Windsor Corridor.... Absolutely correct. there is NO reason why if needs to take 8 hours to go from Montreal to Toronto by train.
yeah it would be relatively cheap to make a Canadian High Speed rail line for the most populated part of Canada
Omg Canada, be better than the US about this 😅
You have to remember that our politicians are very dumb and our voters are even worse.
All trains stopped going through my hometown in about 1992, and passenger trains through my capital city in 1990. Liberals and Conservatives have failed to keep Canada a modern country with functioning public rail options.
