And my dad was glad to see me. He's very frail. He's slowly starting to depart, so his mind wanders. But he has moments of presence where I feel him focused & there. I was able to tell him what I want him to know, which is I love him, he's a good dad & I carry happy memories of him in my heart.

Mortality, death - it's very difficult. But I am also conscious that it's a gift to have the chance to say goodbye, to express love, to hold hands, to see the comfort my dad finds in his faith. I am not religious but he is comforted by that, and I am comforted in turn to see that for him.
