I sometimes see emphatically anti-AI writers and actors using AI-generated artwork in their promotional material and it makes me sad, every single time! 🌟👌💯
Not having a go at anyone who makes that choice, but: 1) It does make me sad. 2) Surely you can’t have it both ways. 3) I’d rather look at a child’s scrawl on a napkin than look at that weird soulless smoothed-out slop.
I released some music this year via a couple of small record labels and they both just used AI art for it without asking. It made me sad, but I'm nobody so don't get to decide. I know they're running on less than a shoestring for the love of it, so I get why.
I feel the same way when I see visual artists using chatGPT 😔
It must just be so tempting. To those who’ve never given anything of themselves to the visual arts to be able to conjure these things. To access another avenue of expression via a simulacrum of it. Its like someone who’s never set foot in a gym peacocking about in a powered exoframe.
