I don’t think interviewing Trump is always a bad idea. But treating him as anything other than a depraved authoritarian helps his cause by legitimizing him as a reasonable choice for voters. You can't go in hoping to get along. And that's what Welker did.
Kristen Welker's tenure as "Meet the Press" moderator got off to an inauspicious start.
She did get him to admit the whole election denial campaign was entirely his idea. Yes, he listened to some people, but the call was all his. On tape
You have to be ready to counter him and not let him deflect or divert.
It's not rocket science to ask him neutral questions ("Tell us about what happened in the weeks after the election") that will give him every opportunity to talk himself into a jail cell.
Donald Trump should be interviewed like Charles Manson. Go in understanding that you're dealing with a mad man. Don't look for evidence of sanity. Just map out the madness.
45 voters don’t watch nbc, so the only ppl who watched already hate him. The problem is he is such a fire hose of BS, you can’t fact check him in real time…& if you press too hard, he’ll call you names and walk out. So she had to balance all that.
She showed herself to be Chuck Todd's replacement in *every* way.
I'm just sick and tired of the media thinking they have to report on every thing he says, the man lies continuously, its no longer news when its the same BS since 2016, I'd say it all media that is legitimizing him if they wont call out the lies for what they are.
