Grew up near Greenham Common, one of my secondary teachers showed us Threads. Pretty sure everyone in the class was traumatised forever 😂 the cheery way they said “but you don’t have to worry about any of that, we’ll be instantly killed the moment the nukes start flying” was the icing on the cake 😂

My family lives close enough to DC that my dad told me a few years ago he'd be driving *into* the city in the event of nuclear attack, since being vaporized is the least-worst outcome.

Growing up near Portsmouth we knew that in the event of nuclear war we wouldn't have to live through the aftermath as the naval dockyard would be one of the first places to go.
