What could have easily been a victory lap for just Beyoncé, she uses the opportunity to celebrate other people, especially other artists. It feels like not only a celebration of the Black community, but also a celebration of how diverse, complex, and intimate being “country” can be. Yee-haw!
Not only did she do her homework, and is teaching us both about history in general, but also music history, the album slaps. It’s a masterpiece. If it’s not your cup of tea, sure, okay, but it’s a bummer you’re missing out on the serve of the century. Grrl clocked into her shift, and she eats it up.
