The best possible monument to Annie Alexander (1867-1950), paleontologist, geologist, educator, philanthropist. Breaking all those restrictive social norms and rules took guts and stamina ⚒️🧪 www.geological-digressions.com/annie-montag... Image credit: ReBecca Hunt-Foster

The monument inscription is "she found men a nuisance on her arduous field trips".

I’m in Greece and it seems like the world is ending to the east and west of me

The weather's been rank, but the greenhouse is still giving up the goods now and again. 🍆🍆🌱

The picture shows a pair of small aubergines in my hand, they're quite chubby, and are wet and shiny because they’ve just been washed.
Oo-err.

Ahead of the election, many of us said Labour and Tories were largely indistinguishable. Delighted to get rid of Sunak’s shower of right wing loons, but apprehensive about Starmer’s Labour which is miles right of where Lab should be. Depressingly we were correct. They are only marginally better.

Also not showing much sign of being more competent, which was the only other real component of their potential to be better, apart from replacing corruption with probity which they clearly haven't. Not sure they will be better at all, until they face opposition within their parliamentary MP group.

We need more #Allotments right now, in place, ready for now and for our future generations. We buy land for new allotment sites, because we know that they are needed not just for the 1000s of people on allotment waiting lists, but for the people who are to come, who will also want to grow their own
