The elite will never cede wealth/power without resistance. The state won’t tax them out of existence because it serves their interests. Only class war and revolutionary socialism are the way forward.

Instances of workers’ control in revolutionary Russia or Spain only made sense as emergency measures but were otherwise dysfunctional (e.g. hence NEP). The proletarian dictatorship socialises the commanding heights+profits until full communism can eradicate the market economy.
Various forms of “workers’ control” have been posited as potential, alternatives to the market, but popular mobilisation alone is unviable as a co-ordinating mechanism, and less capable than the self-sustaining dynamics of a market, which can only be replaced by global, computerised planning.
In other words, the most that could be implemented in an isolated revolutionary region is what is oxymoronically mislabelled “market socialism”, but which actually describes the economics of the proletarian dictatorship pending world revolution’s victory, after which socialism can be achieved.
