@tentacle.expert yeah so you need *one* of those to create a community of personal data servers. This is not the case in Mastodon/ActivityPub implementation. Any of the server/instance in the community has full capability to federate with each other without the need for a central “network” server.

@cheeaun they don’t fit in one of those because they are both centralized and federated. 😅 thing is, there’s just a small section in their docs that says this so it’s quite sneaky in my opinion “You can self host to federate with the wider bsky.social”
