This came out so good - smoked pork shoulder tacos with ground cherry habanero salsa. Esquites and refried beans.
Fat cat, on a Sunday? What is this world coming to?
The main downside to this plan is that it's the most expensive option as it would require demolishing all the existing BKL buildings and building new ones on the other side. But it may alleviate some of the FAA concerns about closing an airport.
By eliminating 6R/24L and moving the end of 6L/24R 3500 ft NE, this would also reduce or eliminate the height limits on the current stadium land. The closest corner of the current stadium site would be more than a mile from the end of the runway.
That's the Geauga county airport roughly to scale on the NE corner of Burke. This would be big enough for small planes and helicopters while leaving the land closer to downtown open for a park/redevelopment.
Looking at Cleveland's consultant reports for Burke, one option is a "hybrid" development. But they only consider keeping the airport open as-is and just redeveloping the parking lot? Kind of surprised they didn't consider keeping it open, but in a much smaller form.
