Yes, the reactionary intuition is that the economy is zero-sum and thus anything other people have is something you were deprived of. This sounds stupid (it is) but it is core to almost every critique of immigration.

Last time insurrectionists had this level of success in their fight against the US, we switched over from calling a type of room a “parlor” and started saying “living room”. Seems like the plan is to pogrom a significant proportion of the country and switch over from “living room” to “lebensraum”.
I agree it’s dumb but e.g. Canada currently seems to be dealing with a housing shortage that appears to be enraging people about immigration, I think it’s a thing even if people aren’t thinking through the steps in a very logical way
