This gag screenshot I made (you know, for my haters) got a lot of attention on Twitter... but what's REALLY interesting is that the unused finger graphic is actually from Wing Commander I! It's stored in PILOTANM along with joystick hand, ejection hands and a similarly unused left handed thumbs up.

I found the assignment in the original art list from 1989: a right hand which was intended to play when a kill was scored--a thumbs up for wingman kills and a first for player kills. The feature was ultimately dropped entirely, but...
