my alcoholic bro is like that. Both our parents have been sober for decades, still go to AA meetings weekly+ with most of their good friends, etc. Def. hokey elements (ACA too!) but Mr. Hardheaded Realist is trying microdosing shrooms, to drink less, like come on now.

(I know there is a study but it combined therapy... also it's been bad for a long time, with significant health consequences, and this isn't his first scheme. I think a lot of the "disdain for hokeyness" is a mask for "fear of feelings", have similar issues myself)
