Clarity of writing very often reflects clarity of thought. When you see inscrutable text, particularly in your own field, there’s a good chance the authors didn’t truly understand it either

yep. i said this once to my main thesis advisor, who disagreed vigorously. it took me years to appreciate that the disagreement didn't necessarily reflect poorly on my talents or perspective, that we might just be using very different meanings of "understanding"

What about typographical errors that are easy to decode tho? B/c I feel like there is non-minimal chance no matter how mind-altering your writing, some nerd's gonna be like: You made a boo boo. Back to start you go stupidhead.
