The Large Hadron Collider just finished colliding protons at 6.8 TeV per particle this year, and will move on to colliding lead ions soon! 6.8 TeV is the kinetic energy of a mosquito in flight, but get a few hundred trillion protons at that energy, and you can melt a ton of copper!
