Main reason is that's exactly what it is, unwanted junk mail, second reason is Royal Mail will charge them the postage for returning it.

If I receive one it's being marked "return to sender, unwanted junk" and put back in the mail.

I believe that is all game data, the BBC Micro had a display mode that allowed the game to hide all that while the Electron didn’t, so it was all unfortunately visible. I think I still have the novella, though it’s not in great condition…
