Another thing that happened on my run was that an older lady walking her Labrador on a retractable leash let it lunge at me and force me to jump into traffic, I am begging people to please use real leashes

Those things are so dangerous. Somebody’s retractable leash once wrapped around my legs on a hiking trail and cut deeply enough to draw blood.

Omg! I hope you’re alright. While the dog that bit me was on a regular leash (and I was not running) I still get super anxious whenever a dog approaches me while running now and I have definitely diverted off curbs and into grass for said dogs. I’m sorry this happened. 😞

That's one of the many reasons the animal shelter throws away all donated retractable leashes.
