The Falkirk producers market is finally growing! I visited stalls selling soap, veg, fish, and wine today, and if I was very tempted to get shawarma or a sausage roll or a greek ready meal for lunch. Feels a lot busier and better than it has been in the past ☺️

I used to be good at learning poems by heart. Then I tried The Bells by Poe. I could never get past "...the tintinnabulation..." It's still good though. My last poem thought? Frost is a bit silly. This is probably because I read Nabokov. Sorry Frost.

My sister recently introduced me to Hollie McNish who is brilliant. A lot of it is sexy, or at least about sex, and great. This one isn't, and is also great.

Heirloom by Hollie McNish. Black text on a yellow background. Again, this is easily googleable, but tell me if I should type it out!

I also have very healthy obsessions with Disobedience and Forgiven by A. A. Milne. Plus This Be the Verse (yes, like everyone else). Did you know that No Man is an Island (John Donne) is the same poem that instructs you to never send for whom the bell tolls? Bet you assumed it was Poe. I did.

It's national poetry day?? @ragbonehair.bsky.social's thread is brilliant (and if you want to hear a flawless reading voice, you should take a look). I think it's fair to say though, that our favourites have a different tone. Today, my current favourite is Batman's Aff His Nut but Rab Florence:

I knew one of the guys who made sure they put mirrors up there! He was *awful* but it was/is a great experiment. He was also definitely real.

And England, Ireland, and Scotland separately, but not Wales. Poor Wales

A school friend used to sing this flawlessly as a party piece. It always started with people going "haha what? Nah all of them?" And ended with cheering and people buying him drinks. Good guy. Wonder what he's doing now. Possibly the same thing.
