So what happened was this lady bought a gift card, but it was defective and didn't work. So the total came out to -50. What i always do in that situation is just scan a second gift card of the sams value so the total is 0 and we don't have to go through all the trouble of refunds and such.

But for some reason my co worker thought I didn't know what I was doing and ended up wasting the 2nd gift card and throwing it away after I had already activated it. She got herself confused by her own "better" way of fixing it and turned what should have taken 30 seconds into a 8 minute ordeal.
