It's not unique at all. Daesh did it in Palmyra and Aleppo. Turkey did it to the Armenians and still does it all the time to Kurds and others in the south-east. The Conquistadores did it to indigenous Mesoamericans. The Saudis have done it to themselves! The British Museum is a monumen to genocide.

There is this death drive and desire for destruction that these people have. It makes sense. You can't really kill a lot of people without it spilling over into nature, history and so on. And vice versa. You don't really destroy things without also disassociateing from human life to a degree as well
