IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Remember the legendary house on your block that gave out the full-sized candy bars at Halloween? You can be that house. It's not very expensive if you buy in bulk. Become legend. Give out the big candy bars. You will never regret. The kids will all talk about you.
My neighborhood went through a transition without a local school for a few years so new families stopped moving in. I'd buy full size bars every year and gain ten pounds by December. Thank goodness the Montessori school opened!!
And their parents will never come down your street again. /s
Might keep in mind that a lot of kids have nut allergies. I used to hand out Milky Way, but 3 Musketeers, plain Hershey, Nestle Crunch, anything without nuts would hopefully be a safer option.
Costco is your friend.
I get a variety of mini bars/candies, mix them all together & give them out by the handful. Every once in a while a kid wants to pick out all their favorites. 🎃
We always do, but we never get any kids. Not in the past 25 years or so.
We have a lot of kids come through our neighborhood who have clearly never had a costume. So we go to the party store and buy multipacks of cheap masks made for kids' birthday parties. I tell them to put on the mask so I can give them candy. All comply and most keep the masks on.
You can't become a child again, but you can become the adult child-you wished to see in the world.
Also a lot easier to not have a ton of little pieces left over that you have to *ahem* dispose of after.
I am now that house. 😁I am now that house. 😁
