I hate whatever impulse it is to have the last word and then use the fact you're just stringing words together and hitting reply the most as some sort of signifier that you "won".

it's an old forum ethos: one who posts last posts best. we know now this is the same impulse driving divorced men to try to win the same argument for years even after their relationships breakdown.
