I oppose Trump's tariff ideas as much as anyone, but liberals, please recognize that "consumers pay the price for higher tariffs" is EXACTLY the same argument used against corporate income taxes.

This may be an unpopular view, but I wish liberals would stop saying a tariff is "like a national sales tax." It confuses the issue for no reason. Just say "Tariffs make companies raise their prices." People can understand that without the populist anti-tax messaging.
