One of the most remarkable photos ever taken. And it is impossible to comprehend the scale of it. Taken by Hubble, it is a jet of gas being fired out of a supermassive black hole. The jet is 3,000 light years long (1 light year = 6 trillion miles!). Full amazing story👉 mashable.com/article/blac...

In the darkness of space a single shining star is emitting a jet of light blue gas

After testing my new mount on M13, haven't had a chance to use it since....here's one of my better astrophotos with the old mount. :) This is the Heart of the Heart nebula, Melotte 15, a fantastic sculpture of gas, dust and starlight. HHOO via Ha [OIII] dual band filter, processed in PixInsight 🧪🔭

Melotte 15, in this color palette a tower of golden hydrogen gas clouds surrounded at the top by the blue of doubly ionized oxygen and given depth by dark dust clouds. Stars shining in all colors throughout.

Possibly my best #Saturn image to date due to the amazing seeing on the 16th. 4 moons are visible on the original image. Faint Mimas is just visible below the rings on the right of the disk. Following opposition, Saturn's shadow is starting to appear to the left. Some ring structure also visible 🔭🧪

Taken with an Edge HD8 and x2 Barlow.
Processed in Autostakkert, Astrosurface, Winjupos and Photoshop

I kinda miss my remote telescope some days, but the thing was a quite a chore. I don't necessarily recommend it, different times for me. But I got these! #space 🔭🤩

This stunning image captures a fragment of the Soul Nebula, located in the constellation Cassiopeia. The nebula's intricate structures, formed by glowing gas and dust, resemble ethereal shapes, embodying the beauty and mystery of star formation. Its vibrant hues, sculpted by stellar winds and radiation, radiate a cosmic warmth, highlighting the nebula's ongoing stellar nursery.
The iconic "Pillars of Creation" rise dramatically in the Eagle Nebula, silhouetted against a backdrop of glowing gas and stars. The dark, towering structures of cosmic dust reach out like hands into the bright, star-forming region, a scene both haunting and beautiful.

The iris nebula is a bright reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus. The designation NGC 7023 refers to the open cluster within the larger reflection nebula designated LBN 487.

The Wizard Nebula aka NGC7380 aka Sh2-142 is a Galactic star forming region in the constellation Cepheus and some 10 000 light years away. See www.astrobin.com/rr49nu#astrophotography 🔭📷
