she was probably using a stenography keyboard! they're used for things like court transcripts too, and they're very interesting little machines that i'd recommend reading into a bit if you're interested :)

she told me a little about some specialized keyboard + software and i wrote it down and then lost the paper. will look up “stenography keyboard” though, i was definitely curious!!
