There were some recentish Marvel trades that had a strong diapery chemical smell. Physically repellent!
This is my plan for today. Will post proof of Life tomorrow if possible.
He'd still be a solid choice for G'Nort.
If magic requires a price, then on a macro scale it's capitalism. And like capitalism, magic and the various demons within this book can be wielded as a weapon by a corrupt plutocracy. Starts as a supernatural gangster book and expands into a condemnation of government and metaphysical hierarchy.
So sorry, Colin. What a beauty.
I also like the depiction of John's willpower and his repeated mantra of "A Green Lantern can do anything." Stewart uses his GL power in more metaphysical ways.
Montos has a scratchy style that fits some of the horror tone, but the action is occasionally confusing. I like that PKJ is building his own little corner of DC mythology.
Big Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn vibes here.
The ending didn't really work for me, and the series goes on some late tangents, I'm guessing to justify the pages by other artists. But overall, a clever, involving read. I need to read more Priest. (His short JL run from a few years back was excellent.)
Like a Bronze Age tale writ large, with a harder sci-fi bent (presumably the specially thanked Dave Van Domelen consulted). I dig the parts about Superman trying to help a world that refuses to be saved. I wish we had some more room to really feel the weight of time on Clark.
