I redesigned an assignment this term to not reward the kind of vacuous writing that LLMs produce and it is having exactly the effect I wanted. Stuff that is almost undoubtedly LLM-produced is scoring next to nothing and meanwhile the remaining writing is even more engaged and thoughtful than ever.
