Vance is such a fascinating character because he's a reasonably adept debate performer and plausibly could have had a decent career if he hadn't sold his soul and needs to parrot the most insane, idiotic, and evil talking points imaginable

There's a nearby possible world where he has a 20 year Big Law career and then wins a senate seat as a guy who's good at debates even if he's a little awkward in person. (Many such cases) Instead he's a giant unlikeable weirdo

You can tell he knows he’s lying, unlike most grifters who are all in on the BS. His face changes when Walz fact checks him.
