In fairness, they did a whole article on that exact point, very recently. www.nytimes.com/2024/09/28/w...
Mexican drug cartels are turning thousands of Americans into fentanyl smugglers, sending an army of couriers who can easily cross between both countries.
:D :D :D
I was a bit troubled that I had never heard of the reporter who wrote that article. Could not help but think that he might be looking at some time in the reeducation camp. ;)
In all seriousness, a fine milestone, isn't it?
They actually did cover it, and pretty fairly, for them: bsky.app/profile/bjke...
I did check @nytimes.com an hour or so ago for mention of this, and found nothing. Just checked again, and hurrah, they did mention it in an article posted just minutes ago. (Some scrolling required.) Maybe we shamed them into it? www.nytimes.com/2024/09/29/u...
Vice President Kamala Harris vowed to combat the flow of fentanyl into the country when she visited the border on Friday. Former President Donald J. Trump ratcheted up his false claims in response.
Huh. Granted, I've never gone back to watch any archived stuff, but I have very fond memories of the first two or three seasons (1975-77 or -78). Sure, there was the occasional lame filler skit in there, that much I remember. But it was the best new TV I had ever seen, at that point.
Overall, a refreshingly honest piece of reporting. Hats off to Neil Vigdor!

I'm in about the same place as @rivikah.bsky.social: I don't much like anything about Facebook, but I still visit it daily b/c it is the only way for me to keep up with a whole lot of friends and extended family.
One of my early heroes, thanks to a fun biography of him that I got as a present.
