Honestly a little surprised no one commented on this. This is exactly how it was written in the script and I spent so long trying to think of a good way to word whatever would go between these brackets. Eventually the comic was done and I still hadn't come up with anything so I just left it.

I was more concerned for the doubled m's, than the brackets.

I personally thought it was a great moment. Much like the "took forever to learn their names" gag, I appreciated that it hung a lampshade on some of the details that often get lost in the shuffle (or aren't always necessary) in these kinds of stories. It's good stuff!

I thought about asking if it was a mistake. But then I figured it was exactly for the reasons you gave, so I didn’t bother. I loved the comic as I always do.
