being on this app just chilling makes me realize how nasty twitter has become i'm not even talking about the obvious crowd i mean everyone is just so mean and nasty for no reason you start to not notice it after being on there for years

Even people who are probably cool are drifted into the dunk cycle from time to time (I've been there). The broad toxicity brings out signal boosting of bad takes from well intended-folk, snowballing the problem. There's a baseline negative vibe which simply isn't here. What a relief.
