What's worrisome to me is that Hypothetical Eric Adams is such a compelling pitch, while Actual Eric Adams has a Trump-like ability to pile up scandals so quickly that people get bored of keeping track of them, that he can probably fall upward pretty far on the strength of that pitch.

(The countervailing force, thankfully, is that NYC mayor is famously a terminal position, and if neither John Lindsay nor Mike Bloomberg could buck that trend, we're _probably_ safe from Eric Adams doing so. Probably.)
