There can be, but I so deeply urge caution here. Remember the uncentering we are asked to undertake as established & fundamentally privileged peoples in this space.

to grow we don’t lose what makes it so invaluable. Is this a recipe for life changing opportunities? Yes.1000% time yes. Is it guaranteed to happen? No. Are there opportunities there for other Industry Professionals & attendees not in the scholarship program?

bends gravity and space so for just a moment so everyone can be in the same orbit together. I would encourage sharing instead “This changed my life!” and then follow up speaking to the values and pillars that uphold the Con to make sure as it continues to grow we to make sure as it continues...

We will set the expectation that this is all it takes to transform someone’s place in this industry and we know that can’t be the case. This is also a step in the direction of opposition to the main mission of the Convention.

If the message shared after this weekend is “You have to go to Big Bad Con it will change your life!” We will foster failure for future attendees because this convention can not and will not change everyone's life who joins.

I think we could fundamentally change the way we talk about this convention and in that way take better accountability for the way we are influencing expectations for future scholars, industry professionals, and convention attendees across the board.
