This airport was once the gateway to Europe. Now no one’s heard of it | CNN

Croydon Airport, near London, broke records as it opened up commercial air travel to and from Europe. But after a lifetime of glamor, it has faded into obscurity.

I regularly pondered about and admired it as I drove back and forth between London and Brighton.
