Seriously though, the 240 was really a re-nosed 144 from 1966 with its solid rear axle - they felt ancient & agricultural from launch in 1974, let alone by 1993 when they were finally killed off for it's vastly superior replacement, the 5cyl Volvo 850 which drove wonderfully - my choice in the 90s๐
The Audi's were also available in Turbocharged and/or Quattro awd versions too, but I can't remember James Bond driving a Volvo estate in the movies... ๐
No dispute here - I love them both, having driven and owned multiple versions over the years - I've even owned both simultaneously... ๐
And yet those brick-faced boxy Volvo wagons actually had less cargo space than aerodynamic yet practical Audi Avants... ๐๐
Redefined, for those who require added space but have rejected the stodgy image of conventional wagons...
