The Alaska Federation of Natives is hoping to defeat a November ballot measure that would repeal the state’s new election rules, adopted just four years ago.

Of course it's Republicans who are rejecting the system. They've adopted the Boss Tweed adage that he didn't care who won as long as he got to choose the candidates. It's not exactly the same, but it's the same mindset. Leaving the election up to the will of the people doesn't work for them.
