It’s so wild after spending years, talking about the aesthetic of fascism and people still don’t recognize it when they are living in the middle of it. Absurdity as a cudgel and a shield. Complete information overload as a propaganda tool. Working the refs of democracy using networked violence.
Barbossa voice: you better start believe in fascism you are living in it
in a certain light, living in the society depicted in The Hunger Games would be pretty exciting
"Before mass leaders seize the power to fit reality to their lies, their propaganda is marked by its extreme contempt for facts as such, for in their opinion fact depends entirely on the power of man who can fabricate it." --Hannah Arendt
To be fair, lots of us average dopes do realize it. We are just powerless to do anything, especially while the media and other primary means of informing the public refuse to acknowledge how serious this all really is.
I remember people warning of rising fascism back in the Tea Party days but they were decried as alarmists. Now it’s completely unmistakable yet people are saying the same thing. I don’t see how the Springfield situation can be described as anything else. It’s both infuriating and terrifying.
A massive shift towards pseudo science as a cover for hatred. The demonization of intellectuals and academic institutions as elite and anti social. The adoption of a Neo futurist ideology and art aesthetic and the embrace of eugenics. We are living inside a fascist aesthetic bubble.
