as pointed out by @chrisbaker1337.bsky.social, real estate agents had been pushing Asheville, NC as a "climate haven" which would be unaffected by extreme weather, and now it's without power and its suburbs are under water.

I know a few people from high school and college who became successful ended up moving from the New Orleans area to Asheville because they thought it was a climate apocalypse haven, and after Katrina who could blame them. I haven't heard from a couple of them yet, I hope they are okay.
