This isn't completely accurate. Likes and reposts have weight in the Discovery feed; there is an algorithm there. Otherwise, you're right about the other feeds being chronological. Outside of Discovery, likes are for you and showing other people that you enjoyed their post.

Even filtering it by only top level posts in english, it still flows like crazy!
