One more useful thing for new users - check out @skywatch.bsky.social for curated mute lists for transphobes, fascists, bots, etc etc that you can use to mute/block them.

these folks have very recently falsely listed black people as white supremacists just because they saw them using the n word too much for their liking - i really wouldnt trust their judgement enough to follow them

Those lists are maintained by volunteers by the way and not officially by bluesky itself, they seem well-intended but not infallible. So use your own judgement as well.
