A rare thing Britain has over us culturally is that no one in America buys an electric kettle for 25 bucks despite it being incredibly useful
The only thing i need boiled water for is pasta and you can’t do that in a kettle as far as I know
Pro tip if you have ND people in your house, especially if you're transitioning from a stove-top kettle: *keep the electric kettle in a spot as far away from the stove as possible* Doing this has successfully avoided a repeat of the "melted electric kettle" incident!
i love mine so much. mvp purchase of 2022
I am reminded of this magnificent piece of trolling*. *I refuse to contemplate the alternative.

And it’s not just tea — boiling water does a lot of good stuff! We go through a lot of tea, but also use it to finish rice, blanch broccoli, etc.
Kettles are nice but no guns and free health care probably makes being British more attractive
Now you can get an electric kettle that puts the water at the temp you choose *and* that has a gooseneck spout. Nothing better for pour over coffee and tea geeks.
I totally removed myself from the workplace coffee wars by buying my own electric kettle and managing my own hot morning beverage affairs (tea) behind the closed door of my office. I would not have known of such a thing had I not gone to school in England. A friend insisted I needed one.
I’m on my third. Traveling now and miss my kettle something awful. 😁
Isn't this because the UK (240v) kettles boil quicker than US (120v) ones. US is limited to 120v due to frequent fork insertion into outlets.
