Alternately, we might turn to North Africa. By the time the Romans set down a permanent hold there (146 BC) the population is a mix of Phoenicians and indigenous peoples. The Phoenicians spoke a Semitic language (Punic), while many others spoke early Berber languages. 13/

Both are part of the broader 'Afro-asiatic' language family, descendants of the very, very old Proto-Afroasiatic, so Punic and, say, the Numidian language separated from each other before your Indo-European languages did and both are entirely unrelated to Latin. 14/
