Last night for the first time in a while I visited Powell's Books, the largest independent US bookstore. I was there for a signing by photographer Mike Vos, whose book is on the bottom in this photo of my overall book haul. Gonna need to make room for an expanded film section on our shelves.
I still subscribe to my hometown daily newspaper, The Oregonian, but some of its stories really make me cringe. First among those would be a regular series rhetorically asking and then answering what TV or streaming channel a sporting event is on. I mean, these guys used to win PULITZERS.

It IS a cognitive thing, I believe. I recently read a book about brain hemispheres, and Republicans typify right-brain dominance. Lack of nuance and rejection of ambiguity, empathy, tone-deafness, etc.
