Let this sink in: UK government possibly to award no new research grants this year due to budget decisions

It may be optimism bias, but I really don't think this is going to happen. The ResearchProfessional article seems mostly rumour based

Wow - a huge blow to research across the country, not to mention a de-motivator to work on that grant application...

This has more to do with the stupid decision to leave Europe.
