I get this. Slang can be really difficult in that the context doesn’t always translate. Indian & American sayings often have roots in British English which makes it far easier but I struggled w/slang in French & chose to stay quiet when visiting France & Belgium.

Mmm I think where you are in the USA matters. California has its own vibes and microdialects because we're so big and diverse. I watch a LOT of UK TV and somehow still miss stuff. I've also picked up random ZA slang from local friends and the odd Aussie parlance. This place is weird as hell.
