you don't need to know why there's a civil war in Civil War. you already know why.
Alex Garland's latest film is being criticized for not explaining how or why the titular war began. But we already know why it happened.
Seeing it soon and now that I know it's left unsaid, I am going in assuming one side is pro IMMACULATE and the other is pro FIRST OMEN.
Great read, I totally agree, I think going a bit further I feel like we know why the first civil war happened, people wanted to own people, it was one fairly concrete reason, whereas now the fact that we have to ask "what could cause this" shows that there are multiple possible flashpoints
This movie affected me a lot more than I was expecting. I was interacting on another platform and someone tried to invalidate the movie because Andy Ngo contributed footage. That footage changes nothing about the impact IMO and complaining about it proves Garland's point, again IMO.
