We're probably all underestimating how powerful a player the fossil fuel lobby is in the AI "revolution."
This should be bigger news: AI is *revitalizing the fossil fuels industry.* Bloomberg called it a "surprising resurgence" in gas-fired power plants when we were on the brink of a transition to clean energy. And big tech has nothing to say about it. www.bloodinthemachine.com/p/ai-is-revi...
Silicon Valley is helping to accelerate the climate crisis in at least 3 major ways
Been spending all morning on Twitter knocking down the nutty claim the FEMA is out of money because of spending on migrants. So I thought I'd share out the thread I did over there on what the Shelter and Services Program is, how it began, and why it exists. SSP was first funded in 2019 under Trump.
amazing that the whole Trump arc is: people reject Trump->sorry, Electoral College->people reject Trump->Trump does coup->people point out Constitutional rule barring coup-doers from running again->every pundit in America: "tsk tsk it's not legitimate unless the people reject Trump"
the thing about the 6-3 court is that they won, and they know it unless Dems actually get their shit together - and the votes - they can do whatever they want, with nobody to stop them they do not have to pretend anymore, so they aren’t, and if you don’t like it you can go fuck yourself
The whole "judges keep politics out of their work" thing has always been silly, but Neil Gorsuch doing book tour events with Megyn Kelly and Ben Shapiro might be the strongest evidence yet that the justices aren't even pretending to take it seriously
Most Americans disapprove of the Court's lurch to the right. But the justices who control the Court are not listening to most Americans.
aww, thank you! yours too! yes I love my mirror, I bought it in San Miguel de Allende a few years ago. when I'm brushing my teeth I like to look at all the different tiles and play Concentration with them, like which ones match etc
and @rahaeli.bsky.social i don't even have the same problem as you, my individual hairs are baby fine, I just have 3-4 times as many of them as a normal person - so it feels like cobwebs touching me 😱 - and it grows super fast.
thank you! I couldn't take the sweating this summer tbh but I may never go back because life is SO much better without my hair driving me crazy every day!
So I love this law. Basically, California spends billions replacing gas lines on a regular basis to make sure they aren’t leaking. The bill identifies neighborhoods up for replacement; if the neighborhood prefers, they will shut off the gas line and buy everyone free electric appliances instead.
👀 ⚡🧵 Last week, California passed a law that lets whole neighborhoods electrify, shutting down gas pipelines that would otherwise need replacement. The law allows up to 30 pilot projects through 2030, requiring that 2/3 of affected property owners agree to get of gas. www.kqed.org/news/1200671...
The law will allow up to 30 neighborhoods to end gas utility service and swap out gas appliances for electric ones — at no cost to residents.
