Speaking of badger, this is the most complete list of all the badgers that I’ve found online. It includes 6 of the Ferret Badgers, 3 of the Hog Badgers, and both the Stink Badgers. It includes the Caucasian Badger, which would make 9 badger species. 2 days away from National Badger Day. #Brocktober
So many cousins! Seriously though - it's refreshing to learn more about them. I always knew about the American, European, Honey and Japanese badgers but it's extensive and fun to see we're more prolific than I originally thought. ... Still don't know what kind of badger I am yet besides 'yes'. XD
The Vietnam ferret-badger is known through 2 specimens. The first was found in 2005 but died shortly after and was “disposed of”. In 2006, a freshly dead one was found when they noticed they might be dealing with a new type of badger. Information on this ferret badger is listed as “data deficient”.
