Scheduling struggles and power outages mean this episode is a bit on the short side, but there will be more next month. In the meantime, welcome to the party! www.ascentofboardgames.com/e/episode-66...

PayPal is updating their ToS to let themselves give your data to merchants starting in November and they're certainly banking on people not knowing to opt out, SO to opt out before they start: go to Settings > Data & Privacy > Manage shared info > Personalized shopping, and toggle that shit off

Screenshot of PayPal's Terms of Service update, outlining their "personalized shopping" feature where they allow themselves the right to give info about you to other companies

Just wanted to say that @failbettergames.bsky.social produces the best newsletter in gaming - info about their game projects, yes, but also links and commentary about a bunch of stuff that is clever and thoughtful and always, always interesting. I always end up clicking on most or all of the links.

Enjoyed seeing BEAT (a/k/a the reincarnation of early-80s King Crimson) tonight. No matter how old they look (and frankly, they ALL look old except Danny Carey, who looks like the guy in flip-flops and a polo shirt behind the grill at the cul-de-sac cookout), my GOD can these guys all play.Enjoyed seeing BEAT (a/k/a the reincarnation of early-80s King Crimson) tonight. Steve Vai, Adrian Belew, Danny Carey, and Tony Levin performing as BEAT.
